◄Beneath the state rooms at Keddleston Hall on the ground floor is a series of rooms known as “Ceasars’ Hall”.  Under the National Trust’s custodianship, these rooms now house a wonderful exhibition of Lord Curzon’s time as Viceroy of India.  The National Trust turned to Clark & English when they decided these rooms wanted warming up and reflecting the theme of the nearby exhibits.

The brief contained many awkward windows and doors like the arched doorway seen here.

Antique furniture was taken from storage to be re-upholstered and loose covered in fabrics consistent with both the period and the Asian theme.►►

◄ The room is now furnished in a complementary style, the room is warmer and the un-restricted public access supports the National Trusts recent policy of “removing the rope barriers” to provide more areas within its properties that can be freely used by the public.

The area now houses the reading rooms.
