Complicated Classical
Here the brief was to maintain consistency across three windows of different sizes and at different levels around a staircase. The design and setting was a very classical affair. The commission was made most complicated by the design covering arched boards with dropped swags exposing pinch pleat curtain tops. The curtain tops had to be hand sewn to a curve to fit the arched board in such a way as to ensure a straight hang at the bottom.
Heavyweight Simplicity
Very simple but it works in this warmly decorated dining room. The curtains are heavy from both the woven linen face fabric and the bump interlining. The heavy gauge mahogany pole with guilt finial and brackets balances the weight of the curtains. The contrast flange edging adds a little softness to the weight. All in all, a simple but very well balanced window dressing.
